It seems with the change in our society that we've placed an emphasis on having things. Just things. There's less focus on quality or placing value on skilled trades. Our generation of young people more commonly lack life skills like sewing or knitting because we simply aren't teaching them. Many of these skills are lost along the way with machinery that does this for us. We've forgotten about the folks that pour love into their products, and most often, these products are higher quality.
Here are a few amazing small businesses that I have full confidence in recommending. I know this because these people are so wonderful, and so genuine in their work. I truly am honored to be able to share their work with my readers because I know you will LOVE their stuff.
Knoodle Knits offers high quality hand knit and crocheted goodies. If you're looking for a great hat, scarf, photo prop, etc -- this is the perfect shop for you. I cannot say enough good things about their work. I've been an adoring fan for a few years now. Every time I am asked about cute hats, this is the only shop that comes to mind. While we're on the topic of rad small businesses, you should check out Reed Silk Studio. High quality creative toys, made in the USA, their shop specialises in play silks and wooden toys. What is a playsilk? Well, that's a great question. They're a classic Waldorf toy that inspire creative play. Its uses are as limitless as you'll allow them to be. First they're a cape for a super hero, then they're a blanket for a picnic within a blink of an eye. Truly amazing toys for children who love imaginative play. |
If you like what I wrote, please like and share with your friends. Let's spread the word on Small Business Saturday and reach new people. Leave me a comment with your favorite places to shop with or businesses that just plain do an amazing job providing their service. I'd love to hear about them.
